Dr Diaa Al-Awadi
Physician, creator of Nidam al-Tayyibat
Simple rules, not a complicated diet
An Egyptian physician trained in anesthesia and intensive care, Dr Diaa Al-Awadi (1979–2026) devoted his final years to nutrition and created Nidam al-Tayyibat, a system followed by millions of people in the Arab world.
His method comes down to a few guidelines: a palette of “tayyibat” foods, the two-hour rule and eleven daily rules. The Tayyibat guide brings them together, explained and illustrated, with sources cited.
Informational document: it does not replace medical advice and must never lead you to change a treatment without your doctor.
Learn more about Dr Diaa Al-AwadiMost people fail because they don’t know what to eat.
Nidam Tayebat takes that decision off your plate. Each week, you get a complete nutrition roadmap that tells you exactly what to eat and how to follow the program.
Too many decisions
“What am I eating tonight?” — asked every day, it wears down your willpower.
Rules that are too strict
Extreme diets are impossible to stick to and eventually fall apart.
No concrete plan
Without menus or a shopping list, you improvise — and slip back into old habits.
What the palette allows
The five pillars and the most common foods in the green, yellow and orange zones, with their conditions.
White rice
The system’s central starch, one of its five pillars; it replaces bread at almost every meal.
Potato
The other starchy pillar, allowed in every form: steamed, mashed, baked, homemade fries.
Dates
A daily pillar of the system, as a snack, a dessert or with coffee.
Butter and smen
The reference fat along with olive oil; margarine is excluded.
Bran toast
The only exception allowed among baked goods, for breakfast.
Sea fish and sardines
Protein for the “yes” days, preferably grilled, without breading or lemon.
Lamb
The system’s preferred meat, boiled then seared in smen.
Aged cheeses and qechta
Cheddar, kashkaval, roumi, parmesan: they replace fresh dairy, which is excluded.
Squash and zucchini
Allowed vegetables are always eaten cooked; raw vegetables are excluded.
Palette fruits
Apple, pear, grape, strawberry, banana, apricot; citrus fruits and watermelon are excluded.
Almonds, walnuts, pistachios
A snack allowed in moderation, plain and unsalted.
Green tea and water
Tea is drunk without milk; water is drunk when thirsty, with no quota, between meals.
Zones and conditions according to the site’s food database. This website describes a dietary system for information purposes; it does not replace medical advice.
What the system excludes
The system’s red zone: never, not even as a hidden ingredient. Each entry in the food database shows what the system suggests instead.
White bread and white flour
Baguette, khobz, msemen, pasta, couscous, pastries: only bran toast is allowed.
Chicken and eggs
Excluded in all forms; pigeon, quail, rabbit and sea fish replace them.
Milk, yogurt, lben
All fresh liquid dairy and fresh white cheeses; aged cheeses stay.
Legumes
Lentils, chickpeas, fava beans, dried beans, peas, harira.
Raw vegetables and salads
Leafy greens, cucumber, raw fresh herbs: the system only allows cooked vegetables.
Onion and garlic
Excluded, raw or cooked, in the system’s compilations.
Citrus, watermelon, avocado
Orange, lemon, mandarin, watermelon, melon, kiwi, pineapple, avocado.
Sodas and processed foods
Sugary drinks, energy drinks, margarine, cured meats, ready meals.
